Staff Transition and Succession Planning

An interactive leadership workshop for board and staff conducted by Bryan Orander, including case studies and a template of an emergency succession plan for a chief executive. Learn how to minimize the risks of transitions and how to facilitate opportunities for building the capacity of your organization.

Bryan Orander, President, Charitable Advisors LLC, has spent over 17 years in the not-for-profit sector focusing on capacity building, strategic planning, board development, and executive transition. He is the publisher of the weekly Cincy Not-for-Profit News e-newsletter and author of board training materials including Planning for Every Board Member.

Introduction to Fundraising

Small nonprofits often do not have development or fundraising staff, yet fundraising is still vital to the organization. This 2-day workshop will help organizations develop a fundraising plan and teach fundraising skills that leaders and board members can use to raise money. The last half of the second day focuses on working with board members. One board member from each organization can attend this portion of the workshop for free. We ask that the board member register ahead of time.


When: Thursday and Friday, August 21 - 22, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Fee:

Strategic Thinking and Planning

Learn the essentials for an effective strategic planning process to strengthen your organization. The workshop will cover topics including: understanding why planning is important, factors that affect time requirements, process, internal and external communication plans, plan implementation, and evaluation. Please bring planning documents, the organization's mission, vision, and value statements, and the general agency brochure.

Angela Carl has over 25 years experience in training, planning, and delivery design, and provides consulting services for many organizations. As Principle of Planning for Success, Angela specializes in strategic planning for non-profit organizations and small businesses. She also offers assistance with a variety of other leadership and organizational development needs. A former executive director and board member herself, she has a keen understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and issues common to both positions of leadership.
